We began developing this motorcycle umbrella back in 1998. Back then, the summer sun in southern China blazed like fire, and sudden downpours would hit without warning. As a motorcycle taxi driver myself, I spent every day sweating through thick raincoats in the scorching heat—my clothes soaked through, sticky and suffocating against my skin. When the storms came, the raincoats were never enough to block the wind-driven rain; I’d end up completely soaked, and my passengers fared even worse, often getting their belongings drenched, missing their appointments, or even canceling rides entirely. I watched my fellow riders suffer the same struggles every single day: dizzy from the relentless sun, blinded by pouring rain, with no product on the market that could truly solve this problem. In that moment, I made a promise: I would build an umbrella made specifically for motorcycles, to shield every person on the road from the sun and the rain. From 1998 to today, over 20 years, we iterated and tested again and again, right here in Shangyu Umbrella City, Shaoxing. We pulled countless all-nighters, revised our designs hundreds of times, refining every single detail: from the canopy curve to the wind-resistant frame, from the UV-blocking fabric to the rain-tight seal. We sold this umbrella to motorcycle drivers, tricycle operators, and small business owners across China, listening to their feedback, improving with every version, until it could withstand typhoons in southern China and extreme heat in the north, becoming the most trusted motorcycle umbrella in the country. 20 years later, when we brought this perfected product to Africa, we understood immediately: this mission was never just for China. We’ve seen boda-boda drivers in Lagos sweating through 42°C heat, tricycle operators in Nairobi hunching to protect their cargo from sudden storms, African entrepreneurs riding through cities every day, trapped between the brutal sun and relentless rain. Just like we were all those years ago, what they need is never just an ordinary umbrella—it’s a sense of safety on the road, a peace of mind for their livelihoods.
